Acts 17:1-9 ~ "Was It Something I Said?"

Acts 17:1-9 ~ “Was It Something I Said?”

Posted on November 3, 2019June 8, 2020 by Laura Zielke

This week we tracked Paul, Silas, and Timothy as they traveled from Philippi to Thessalonica. We went on a brief rabbit trail to explore the Kasta Tomb in Amphipolis—the largest tomb discovered in Greece (to date). Be sure to check out the websites in the “Additional Resources” section below.

Since Luke (surprisingly) doesn’t specifically record what Paul taught, we used 1 Thessalonians to extrapolate what he said that was so upsetting to the local citizens—so upsetting that they literally started a riot and went to Jason’s house to extract Paul and Silas. But when they realized the missionaries weren’t there, they dragged Jason (and others) to the politarchs of the city. Jason was required to post bond and promise to get Paul and Silas out of the city ASAP never to return. Wow.
